Accsys graduates ready to make their payroll knowledge count

In March, twenty-two learners will shutdown their terminals and celebrate their graduation having successfully completed the Accsys National Diploma in Payroll Administration services course.

This is an online course, accredited by the Services SETA (Sector Education and Training Authority) and developed in accordance with SAQA (South African Qualifications Authority) unit standards.

It is a comprehensive line of study developed and, facilitated by Accsys, a national supplier of people management solutions in the HR, payroll administration and time & attendance space.   Accsys is a member of the Business Connexion Group (BCX).

HR and recruitment specialists at Accsys say the two-year diploma is designed with the latest industry developments in mind, including changing technology, systems and legislation. Graduates are empowered with the necessary skills and practical training to add immediate value to any business or company that recruits or already employs them.

The Diploma is also a formal qualification recognised throughout industry and sought after by those with experience, but who want formal academic recognition.

The development and introduction of skilled labour as well as the need to further ‘professionalise’ HR and payroll are issues that industry regulatory bodies are aware of. Payroll regulators, like the South African Payroll Association, are excited about progress that has been made.

Payroll administrators have to be alert to changes within legislation and regulation as prescribed by corporate governance. In addition to meticulous attention to financial management, inclusive of tax, administrators must also understand the impact of HR development on the business and related systems.

According to Accsys, by facilitating practical, ‘hands-on’ training and offering in-house experience, businesses are able to play a strategic role in assisting their employees to grow their formal skill set which is then more likely to be aligned to the company’s objectives.

“The HR and payroll industry is in need of more skilled people. The Accsys course makes a difference to the industry by ensuring people understand the broader vision of the logistics of payroll outside of specific knowledge of how software works,” says Teryl Schroenn, CEO at Accsys.

The message to the graduates is one of congratulations and hope. At the same time, they are advised to keep up with innovation and ongoing technology impact on business.
