As a webmaster and editor, I cannot deny the power of social media. I have gathered over the years that there are a growing number of businesses getting involved with Twitter, Facebook, and other services.

No matter your industry or business size, you should realize that you can take full advantage of Twitter - it offers more benefits than you may realize.

If you don't have a plan, there is no better time than now to make a change. Although it may sound like a lot of work, in the end you will realize that there are many benefits.

I will prefer to put a lot of time and energy into growing the number of Twitter followers. What can you do to get this greater reach that you are looking out for? What are you currently doing to get in touch with prospects and current clients?

Regardless of what you are doing right now, when you increase your number of Twitter followers you can be rest assured of a greater reach and that is exactly what you want.

The ability to announce special offers along with new products and services. If nothing else, Twitter is a great outlet for communicating with others. Do you have a new product or service that you want to announce? If so, getting this out to your Twitter followers is a great place to start.

The more Twitter followers the more you will be seen as an authority. Imagine how cool it would be to have more followers than anybody else in your industry from the local area. Most companies realize that this is a great way to improve their reputation.

Twitter makes it easier to spread the word without doing a lot of work. Sure, you may be the person sending out the first Tweet but you never know who is going to "retweet" it on their feed. Think of this as "word of mouth marketing" in the 21st century.

You may be surprised at how much this can help your business. Even if you only have a few Twitter followers right now, this number can quickly grow with the right plan and approach. As your followers increase so will the benefits that you are able to take advantage of.
