[BLOG] Using Social Media to your advantage

If you want success with your online business then you have to be using Social Media, which is one of the smartest strategies that you can adopt.

There are several forums from which to choose to use social media. Some of these GooglePlus, LinkedIn,YouTube, Twitter and naturally Facebook. Facebook is a great platform with which to increase your presence online.

Getting used to Social Media in your business is a great way to advertise your business for free. For Example Facebook allows you to promote yourself to a range of prospects at no cost to yourself. It is a great way to brand yourself to an audience.

If companies like Ecobank and others see fit to use sites such as Facebook then you can be assured that your business will benefit too.
Social media is never a waste of time as some believe. If you are not reaping rewards from your social media efforts then you are doing it wrong.

When you start using social media to boost your business, start with one site and perfect your efforts on that one. Choose either Facebook, Twitter or whatever site you feel is best for your line of business. Generally speaking, Twitter is great if you wish to share items of a newsworthy nature, LinkedIn is known as the professional platform and Facebook is well-known as the social website to be on.

The first thing that you need to know is how each platform works. You should also read up on blogs that are relevant to your niche. As it can become easy to become overwhelmed, you should watch the amount of blogs that you read. You can then use the information to start maximizing your efforts on the social media website.

The best way to engage an audience is to involve them in discussions about the information that you have shared. This allows communication to take place and permits you to become an expert among your peers on the platform. Be cautious to not give too much information away as you will find yourself in a situation where it is hard to make the sale. Just give them a teaser, not the whole package.

Take care with your status updates as they can make or break your business. You credibility and reputation is important and you need to protect it at all costs. If you master status updates then you will set yourself head and shoulders above your competition.

You post status updates on other people's products or services for everyone of your own status updates. This helps you to keep abreast of what is happening in your industry. You will then be better equipped to cater your customer's needs.

While some personal information is good, be discerning with what you share online. Lastly, never, ever leave slanderous comments online as they will do your cause no good.
