[Interview] Kolawole Akinmuyiwa, Managing Partner, Throttle Energy, USA

Kolawole Akinmuyiwa is Managing Partner and Business Developer of oil and gas company, Throttle Energy, Texas, USA.

His interview with Africa Business Communities:

Throttle Energy Inc., USA is a fully integrated Oil and Gas Company consisting of 4 partners with expertise in Oil and Gas Production and Operations to create solutions to power needs in Africa, and monetize associated crude oil production of natural gas currently being flared by both international oil companies and local indigenous oil and gas producers. The solution is be delivered using patented technology called the Virtual Pipeline Technology (VPT) that will provide the most cost effective and integrated approach in gathering, storing, transporting and safely delivering clean natural gas to provide power and cheaper fueling solutions to end users and pipeline disconnected areas. We have a sister company in Nigeria – Throttle Energy ltd.

What are the USPs of your business?

Elimination of gas flaring, modular plants for embedded power generation, we provide a cheaper and faster alternative to pipeline and a faster RoI. On a more technical side, we carry 550 MSCF of gas per cylinder, rapid fillings and chill fillings (ending temperature of 59*F).

Why was Throttle Energy started?

We started this as a means of providing a sustainable solution to power needs in Africa. Our VPT has proved effective in that. We also wanted to work towards eliminating gas flaring in Africa.

What did you do before your partnership at Throttle Energy?

I’ve been a busy man. From business startups to marketing and development in various industries such as automobile, textile, winery, telecom, oil and gas, etc., you name it.

Do you think women entrepreneurs typically have a harder time accessing loans through traditional bank channels?

No I don't think so! If it's so, it should not be. I think equality is the best practice going on these days and the evidence is seen in the new governments in the world; more successful and powerful women emerge every day thanks to this equality.

What can you say about the targets, plans and ambitions of Throttle Energy for the rest of 2015?

The acceptance of our technology and the solutions we provide aligns with the government’s vision to light up Nigeria and West Africa by 2020; we are quite certain of success.

Regarding our plans, we are poised to use proprietary technical solutions to become the leading CNG virtual pipeline provider in strategic high horsepower markets: Oilfield, Commercial, Industrial and Rail delivering bulk CNG to pipeline disconnected areas.

Do you believe Social Media and the Internet to be a plus to the business environment, as it applies to your industry?

YES!!! If used positively, social media (especially LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook with keywords ash tagged) wildly increases a business’s searchability.

What expectations do you have for Nigeria’s economy for the second half of 2015?

The Nigerian economy will be slightly impacted by the price of crude oil as a very high percentage of the country’s income comes from petroleum related product sales.

Which African countries will perform best in 2015?

NIGERIA – New government and everyone is sitting tight. Diversification also from oil as the country’s main source of revenue is a win; the GDP will have a significant growth with investments in Agriculture, Gas, Telecom, Exportation, Music/Entertainment, internal production via refineries, Mining, Textile, etc.

GHANA – They adopt new technologies best in Africa and are said to be less corrupt. They also seek quicker solutions and alternatives to issues.

SOUTH AFRICA – They have an admirable reputation for producing fine wines and their telecommunication industry is strong and only getting stronger.
