[Interview] Andrei Pilipenko, CEO, Buy2Ship, Germany

Andrei Pilipenko is Russian-American businessman and entrepreneur, founder of machinery and equipment exporting company, Buy2ship.

His interview with Africa Business Communities:

Would you please introduce Buy2ship?

Buy2ship LLC is a leading exporter of trucks, machinery and container handling equipment from the US. We have grown from one small office in 2009 to a multicounty global trading company with presence in five countries. We are now adding a new office in Germany to supplement our offers of trucks, chassis and heavy machinery to Africa and South-East Asia.

In which industries does Buy2ship operate and who are your clients?

Most of our clients are truck and machinery leasing or owner operator customers. We supply large trucking companies, wholesalers and dealerships, construction companies and port operators. All segments related to transportation of goods or construction and mining are our potential customers.

Why did you start Buy2ship?

There was a demand for quality used equipment in developing countries and with my background in logistics, this was an easy venture. Just after two years of operations we have grown into the top 10 exporters of port equipment on the West Coast of U.S.

What can be done by entrepreneurs and governments to further the interests of your industry?

I think Governments should start working closely with small to medium size businesses in order to achieve higher returns. Right now most of the government contracts and aged equipment liquidation is channeled through top tier corporations and that creates a bottleneck effect for the industry.

What can you say about the targets, plans and ambitions of Buy2ship in 2016?

We plan to add on 25% revenue from the growth in the African region while maintaining our volume in Asia and South America, despite the ongoing global oil crisis. Most importantly, we are adding truck and machinery parts business to our corporate structure and hoping to launch sales across Asia and Africa by July.

What would you want companies and individuals who read this interview to do?

We are particularly interested in logistics and equipment leasing companies located in Africa. In our experience, those customers benefit the most from our products.

We want to be contacted for equipment needs, whatever continent you may be located.
