The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has appointed Nodira Mansurova as its new Head of the Bank’s operations in Tunisia. Based in Tunis, Ms Mansurova will take up her duties on 1 September, succeeding Antoine Sallé de Chou, who has been appointed Head of Morocco.

Nodira will be responsible for the EBRD’s investments and operations in the country and report to Heike Harmgart, the Bank’s Managing Director for the southern and eastern Mediterranean (SEMED) region.

Commenting on her appointment, Nodira said, “I am very happy and honoured to take up this role and return to the SEMED region. Building on the EBRD’s successes in the country, I look forward to continuing our work with the Tunisian authorities, the donor community and other strategic partners on supporting and advancing the country’s economic priorities, facilitating private-sector development, green investments and sustainable and inclusive growth.”

A dual Uzbek and British national, Ms Mansurova joined the EBRD in 2001 as Regional Head for the Bank’s SME Finance and Development programme in Central Asia, where she was based in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Ms Mansurova brings a wealth of experience to Tunisian small enterprises, which are an important segment of the economy, along with a track record of delivering infrastructure business in the SEMED region.

Since September 2012, when EBRD operations in Tunisia began, the Bank has invested more than €1.3 billion through 54 projects in the country.
