[Angola] Agostinho Neto Cooperative receives tractors from government to boost agricultural production
The Agostinho Neto Cooperative, located in the municipality of Quilenda, province of Kwanza Sul, has received three tractors and their implements from the Government to increase the extension of cultivation areas and agricultural production.
The delivery of tractors to 267 associates of this former military cooperative aims to boost the production of cereals, tubers and vegetables on a 200 hectare site.
On the occasion, the Secretary of State for Social Action, Lúcio Gonçalves do Amaral, who delivered the tractors, promised the Executive's continued support to the former military for their inclusion in productive activities.
He stressed that such action is national in scope, with 104 tractors and their implements available to support former military associations and agricultural cooperatives. Some units have already been delivered to Bengo and Uige provinces.
In 2019, the province of Cuanza Sul reintegrated 147 former military personnel in sea fishing, livestock, milling and motorcycle taxi activities, 65 of which are from the municipality of Quilenda.
At Kwanza Sul province level he said 2,555 former soldiers are to be reintegrated.
The cooperative's 267 members currently produce cabbage on 0.5 hectares, ginguba peppers and maize totaling an area of 8.5 hectares of agricultural production.
