[Zimbabwe] Econet partners with Tengai on free advertising platform

Zimbabwe online market Tengai has entered into a partnership with Econet Wireless Zimbabwe to provide an online classifieds platform which allows free browsing and free advertising, The Source reported.

Tengai is a company owned by Strive Masiyiwa's Family Trust. Tengai, a free online trading platform, is a free service for Econet subscribers. Tengai head of countries James Gibson said the company would ride on Econet's large subscriber base despite low smart phone penetration in the country.

Tengai head of countries James Gibson said the service was available to everyone and the website was mobile friendly. To counter security concerns, Tengai has put in place stringent adhering process to ensure information posted was genuine, sophisticated fraud detection technology and expert advice on how to trade safely.

Gibson also said apart from the free platform, Tengai has put in place Premium Ads which was optional and people would have to pay a fee to advertise on the front page. The payments system was being integrated with EcoCash to provide a secure payment method, he said.
