Tanzania Breweries Limited to train its retailers on business sustainability

Tanzania’s largest brewing company TANZANIA Breweries Limited (TBL) is targeting 1,838 retailers of its brands in a training it hopes will arm them with business skills including how to increase profit margins and improve sustainability.

The training dubbed Retail Development Programme and which will last for three months will be conducted across the country.

 “The Retailer Development initiative is designed to advance TBL Group’s contribution to the shared imperative of SABMiller of ‘Developing a thriving World,” TBL Group Sales Distribution Director, Gareth Jones said

He said through it businesses are advised on customer development opportunities to ensure sustainable revenue and fostering responsible trading to encourage self-regulation and compliance.

He said the programme was continuation of company’s support to that group which delivers products to last consumers adding that TBL Group was committed to see it improving the way is doing business.

“Thriving small businesses are backbone of local communities and economies and since RDP introduced enabled small businesses to securing our supply, growing sales, reducing risks and building a long-term consumer base,” he said.

He said the training is provided in accordance to the need that the group has adding that the needs were identified following a study that was done by the company which identified areas with gaps.

The training will focus on sales techniques, discipline in spending money, how to keep records, competition in business and general entrepreneurship concepts.

The beneficiaries will also get an opportunity to be educated on environmental cleanness at their working places and principles governing business including procedures in running it as well as better understanding of products produced by TBL Group and its subsidiaries.

He said, the company has been introducing various campaigns to empower business people selling its products to make them benefit more and make their business grow through capacity building and other programs. Cross section of traders who have benefited from the program praised TBL group for the initiative.

The believe that RDP will enable them not only to grow their outlets and profits but ensure their businesses are sustainable for longer and able to compete with the ever-growing ‘formal ‘trade’s offering to consumers.
