[South Africa] Zuma Arrives in China for Investing in Africa Forum

President Jacob Zuma has arrived in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, in China, for the 2nd investing in Africa Forum, the presidency said on Monday.

Zuma will use the forum to promote South Africa as a stable democracy and an attractive investment destination. It will be held on Wednesday and Thursday.

It was initiated by the China Development Bank, with support from the Chinese government, in 2015 to allow leaders of business, government, and international organisations to discuss investment in Africa.

Presidency spokesperson Bongani Ngqulunga said this year's discussions would focus on agriculture and agribusiness, infrastructure development, manufacturing, trade, tourism, renewable energy, vocational training and skills development.

On August 29, Guangdong province signed a memorandum of understanding with KwaZulu-Natal to promote co-operation in tourism, agriculture, sports, education, and cultural exchanges.

Zuma was being accompanied by Ministers of International Relations Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane and Trade and Industry Rob Davis, and Deputy Transport Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga.
