[South Africa] Avior Capital Markets Holdings lists on the Johannesburg stock Exchange
Avior Capital Markets Holdings Limited has listed in the Financial Services Investment Services sector of the JSE’s AltX board.
Avior Capital Markets is the holding company of a capital markets group that provides research, stockbroking, corporate finance, derivatives trading, fixed income trading and transition management service offerings to institutional clients in South Africa and abroad. The Avior Group has offices in Johannesburg, Cape Town and London.
Donna Nemer, Director: Capital Markets at the JSE, says the financial services sector remains an important driver of growth in the South African economy, even as other sectors have slowed down. “South Africa is known for our highly developed financial services industry, well-regulated capital markets and skilled financial professionals. The JSE is honoured to welcome Avior to this sector and to be able to provide a platform for other participants in the sector to expand and grow.”
Peter Koutromanos, CEO of Avior Capital Markets, says the company believes listing on the JSE will assist it in increasing its public profile as it seeks to consolidate its current position and increase its market share. “Many companies see listing as an opportunity for the founders to exist, but for us it’s a new beginning. We see listing as the foundation to take Avior to the next level. It represents the start of a new journey for us.”
Avior brings the number of companies listed in the Financial Services: Investment Services sector to 36 and the sector now has a total market capitalisation of just under R367 billion. The sector constitutes 2,6% of the JSE’s overall market capitalisation of R13,95 trillion.
Avior is the sixth company to list on the JSE this year with three companies listing on the Main Board, two in the food & beverage sectors and one in financial services.
Three companies have also listed on the AltX board in industrial goods & services and retail sectors, demonstrating the interest companies have in accessing investors through the JSE.
