[Rwanda] Bank of Kigali makes management appointments in growth and innovation strategy

The Bank of Kigali has made appointments in management as it seeks to tap into new blood and experience to realize its ambitions.

Vincent Gatete is the new chief commercial officer, Desire Rumanyika will serve as the chief operations officer, and Eddy Mabano Kayihura, the chief information technology officer, according to a statement from the lender.

Commenting on the appointments, Diane Karusisi, the Bank of Kigali chief executive officer, said the three local experts have high level expertise and vast experience in their respective fields, which will strengthen the management team and help the bank deliver on its commitments to customers.

“I am pleased to welcome the new members to the team. We believe their contribution will have a positive impact on the growth of the bank, as well as strengthen our efforts to innovate and develop products that meet customer expectations,” Karusisi said in the statement.

Gatete has been serving as ISCO IntersecSecurity managing director prior. He worked with Rwanda stock Exchange-listed Crystal Telecom as CEO and company secretary of Crystal Ventures

“Gatete will be the vanguard of the bank’s commercial strategy and ensure its agility in responding to the dynamic needs of the banking industry,” Karusisi said.
Rumanyika has 17 years of experience, 12 of which have been leadership positions in the financial sector.

He has worked in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi and the UK. He’s been the country manager of East African Development Bank (EADB) since 2011.

Kayihura has 17 years of high level experience in information technology-related business. He will oversee the development of the bank’s digital strategy to drive its technology-led services.

According to the statement, the three executives join other three top managers, including Dr Karusisi, Nathalie Mpaka, the chief finance officer, and Flora Nsinga, the chief human resource officer, on the lender’s executive management board.
