Proflight’s Jubilee Jet Returns To Zambian Skies

Proflight Zambia is reintroducing its popular 50-seater Jubilee jet aircraft on domestic routes from the beginning of next month.

The Bombardier CRJ-100 aircraft, which was originally introduced on a trial basis in October to coincide with the 50th Independence celebrations, is now being brought back by the airline on a long-term basis due to popular demand.

“Proflight Zambia has grown steadily but surely over the last few years, adding new routes and growing passenger numbers, hence now is the time to increase our fleet by adding a larger jet aircraft,” said Proflight Director of Government and Industry Affairs Captain Philip Lemba.

With a large, modern cabin, the aircraft will be staffed by two flight attendants,  rather than the usual individual attendant currently serving passengers on the airline’s other aircraft.

The CRJ’s additional seats compared with the 29 seats on Proflight’s largest current plane, the Jetstream 41 means more passengers may be accommodated in more comfort.

It is 26.77m long and has a wingspan of 21.21m. It has a basic cruising speed of 785km and a maximum range of 3,045km ensuring quick and efficient travel throughout Zambia.

The jet will primarily operate on the Lusaka-Ndola and Lusaka-Solwezi routes will also be deployed on Lusaka-Mfuwe and Lusaka-Livingstone route when demand is high.

Proflight, which celebrates 24 years of operation this year, flies from its base in Lusaka to Livingstone, Ndola, Kasama, Mfuwe, Solwezi and Lower Zambezi, Lilongwe in Malawi and Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of Congo,
