Old Mutual again ranked no 1 top employer in financial services and insurance

The Top Employers Institute announced at a gala dinner last night that Old Mutual has secured the No 1 slot in the financial services and insurance categories for the fifth consecutive year.

Its overall ranking for 2016 – spanning all industries and 134 companies – leapt from 4th place to 2nd place.

Another feather in the cap of the financial services leader is that it has been certified by the Institute as a Top Employer on the African continent overall, as well as a Top Employer in all eight individual countries in the rest of Africa that it currently serves: Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Swaziland and Zimbabwe. This is up from four countries last year.

Old Mutual Emerging Markets Human Resources director Anisha Archary says she is delighted that Old Mutual has succeeded in raising the bar year on year for the past five years.

“We are proud to have in place the kind of world-class people practices that create opportunities and a great place to work for our employees.

“Investing in leading people practices also helps us attract and retain great talent. This in turn enables us to continuously improve our service to our customers and communities, and brings us closer to achieving our vision of being an African financial services champion.”

Old Mutual Emerging Markets CEO Ralph Mupita comments, “Growing our business in Africa continues to be our focus. The expansion potential of our business is huge, so we value this recognition that we are a leading employer in all the countries in Africa that we already serve. It’s a significant endorsement of the high quality that we strive for - everywhere we open our doors.”
