Nordex wins 111MW South African deal

German wind turbine manufacturer Nordex has acquired a 111MW deal to supply turbines to Enel Green Power wind farm in South Africa.

Nordex Management Board member Lars Bondo Krogsgaard said: "The establishment of a local company in 2012 marked an important strategic step forward in our efforts to position ourselves in the emerging South African market. In this way, we are able to handle local projects more swiftly and competently."

Nordex will install 37 N117/3000 turbines at the project. According Nordex, the generation delta turbines have been designed with larger rotors with a greater nominal capacity and optimized technical systems.

This will make it the first one in South Africa to be fitted with the company's Generation Delta turbines. The turbines have the capacity to generate 424 GWh of clean power once in operation.
