[Nigeria] Dangote Industries boost from USTDA for its solar power plant in Kano

Dangote Industries Limited has received a grant from the U.S. Trade and Development Agency in support of its efforts to develop a 100 MW solar photovoltaic power plant with Black Rhino, an African infrastructure investor, in Kano State.

The feasibility study will assess the viability of Nigeria's transmission grid to offtake from a solar PV power plant with generation of up to 100 MW. Specifically, the study will assess the transmission system infrastructure capacity and stability.

"This grid study will create opportunities for U.S. industry to supply products and services that will advance Nigeria's power goals," said Lida Fitts, USTDA's Regional Director for Sub-Saharan Africa.

Aliko Dangote, CEO of Dangote Industries noted, "This grid study is a key component to the success of future grid-connected power in Kano State."

The Kano Grid Connection feasibility study will be conducted on a competitive basis. Businesses interested in submitting proposals for this project should visit the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) website at www.fbo.gov.
