Namibian leader to address AU investment conference

Namibian President Hage Geingob will on Thursday depart for Addis Ababa to attend the 26th Ordinary Session of the African Union Assembly of Heads of State and Government to be held in the Ethiopian capital at the weekend, his spokesperson Albertus Aochamub announced Tuesday.Aochamub said Hage would on Friday a statement at the African Heads of State and Government-CEO Investment Summit on leveraging African resources to finance its development.

During the Friday gathering, government and business leaders are expected to deliberate on ways of unlocking public and private capital, critical to the implementation of Africa’s development priorities, as emphasised by the Dakar Agenda for Action of June 2014.

“This is in the context of financing Africa’s infrastructure, and more recently, with the launch of the Continental Business Network, which marks the transition towards a public-private approach to the implementation of Africa’s regional infrastructure development,” Aochamub said in a press statement.

“After his participation at the African Heads of State and Government-CEO Investment Summit, the Namibian Head of State will attend a meeting of the Committee of Ten (C10) of Heads of State and Government of the African Union on the reform of the United Nations Security Council.

“President Geingob is also expected to deliver an intervention later that afternoon during a meeting of the African Union (Heads of State and Government) Peace and Security Council”.
