MTN Cameroon partners with University of Ngaoundere to allow students pay fees via mobile money

MTN Cameroon has partnered with the University of Ngaoundere in what will see students at the university access MTN services.

The partnership agreement signed by Philisiwe Sibiya, Chief Executive Officer of MTN Cameroon and Prof. Paul Henri Amvam Zollo, Rector of the University of Ngaoundere the University of Ngaoundere, shall enable the deployment of MTN Mobile Money services at the University of Ngaoundere. Students of the university will going forward be able to pay registration and school fees as well as charges for entrance examinations via Mobile Money.

MTN Mobile Money which is a simple and secure service shall enable students avoid waste of time in queues when they have to pay their University dues. It shall moreover considerably facilitate their lives by providing them with the possibility of receiving fast money transfers from parents and relations.

This partnership shall moreover enable students and lecturers of the University of Ngaoundere to access the digital library developed by MTN Cameroon. They shall also be able to add their contents therein, for e-learning purposes. Furthermore, MTNC has committed to create a multimedia centre and reinforce network coverage on campus, through the creation of hotspots. Services such as SMSes at preferential rates, host servers and other facilities have been earmarked.

The partnership between MTN Cameroon and the University of Ngaoundere comes just a few days after the adoption of Mobile Money as a payment solution by the University of Maroua. This brings to six the number of State Universities that are using the Mobile Money solution as a payment mode in Cameroon. These include the universities of Buea, Bamenda, Dschang and Yaoundé.
