Malawi to secure over $20m from India-Africa Summit

Malawi is set to get over $20 million from the India-Africa Forum Summit (IAFS) where Malawi President is expected to attend from October 26 to 29, 2015 in New Dheli, India.Presidential Economic Adviser Collins Magalasi told local media on Wednesday that the funds will be used to finance the tapping of potable water from the Mulanje Mountain and Lake Malawi.

“The ambition of this administration is to make sure that every part of this country has enough and potable water throughout the year. We don’t want water shortages,” he said.

He said President Mutharika intends to push for a quick finalization of the water deals so that Malawians drink clean and potable water.

However, he said, some deals are being finalized with the World Bank, Chinese Government and the European Union (EU).
