Jumia Rwanda rebrands to respond to market needs

In a move meant to increase efficiency and reach more customers with quality services, leading online sales platforms in Rwanda, Kaymu, Lamudi and Hellofood have rebranded to Jumia with their networks now into one system.

According to Rwanda Jumia country manager Alvin Kato, this will help the product vendors serve customers more efficiently. Jumia is one of the flagship services in the Africa Internet Group stable with a continental reach.  "Trading under a single brand throughout all our operations will enable us to explore new ways of providing customers quality services, variety and convenience. This will also allow sellers to find more customers and serve them more efficiently," said Kato while announcing the merger.

"Jumia is the most recognized brand with the highest number of customers. With its visibility, we also hope it's a chance for us to gain more markets and build strong customers' online experiences," he said. The firm will now trade under the 'Expand your horizons' tagline, which expresses the group's ambition to transform people's lives through Internet, and gives African people access to quality services and products using the Internet.

Sacha Poignonnec and Jeremy Hodara, the founders of Jumia, said the Internet can help improve people's lives in Africa. The duo said merging services allows the platform to give better support to customers. "People access those services and products in an environment that ensures quality, trust and convenience," they said in a statement.

They also noted that operating under the Jumia brand could reinforces their capacity to provide a range of services on the platform.
In the new deal customers will access respective products and services on JUMIA; Jovago rebrands to Jumia Travel, HelloFood will now be Jumia Food. Kaymu has rebranded to Jumia Market. Lamudi becomes Jumia House, while the company's logistics services AIG X takes new identity as Jumia Services.
After 4 years of successfully establishing and growing its online services as leaders in their markets, Africa Internet Group, now Jumia, has become a major E-commerce platform in Africa.

"We founded our companies with a very strong belief: Internet can improve people's lives across the globe. Uniting all services allows us to better help our customers fulfill their daily aspirations. This is all possible because people connect to our platform to access those services and products in an environment that we have designed for them, addressing their needs and expectations on quality, choice, price, trust and convenience." said Sacha Poignonnec and Jeremy Hodara, founders and co-CEOs of Jumia.

In addition, sellers will also benefit from this move, by getting access to more traffic and to a greater world of opportunities. Every day, Jumia helps and encourages restaurants, hotels, local sellers, brands, real estate agents, car dealers, large companies and logistic companies to become better, bigger, more performant, thus creating positive impact for Africa.
