JCI Ghana hosts Africa and Middle East conferences
Junior Chamber International (JCI) is a nonprofit organization of young active citizens between the ages of 18 to 40 who are engaged and committed to creating positive change in their communities.
JCI members share the belief that in order to create positive change, we must take collective action to improve ourselves and the world around us.
With over 5,000 Local Organizations in more than 115 countries and territories, JCI forms a vibrant international network with over 200,000 members.
JCI Ghana is a National Organization Membership (NOM) affiliated to JCI since 2007. JCI Ghana has 6 local organizations in 4 regions in Ghana and it is still expanding.
The organization has played a critical role in the development of the communities in which its local organizations operate. Some of the key projects undertaken include the donation of hospital beds to the Princess Marie Louise Hospital, donation of a 5000 litres poly tank to the Tamale hospital, women empowerment in Tarkwa, refurbishment of dilapidated library of South La Primary School, mounting of road safety campaign bill boards, etc.
Each year JCI holds 6 major conferences around the world. One of such major conferences is the Africa and the Middle East Conference. During this conference, JCI members from Africa and Middle East National organizations converge, collaborate and exchange ideas on how to impact in their communities.
The conference also provides a platform for JCI members, partners and other stakeholder organizations to address international issues, show their commitment to becoming socially responsible leaders and form business networks.
JCI Ghana has won the bid to host the 2015 Africa and Middle East Conference from the 6th to 9th May under the theme ‘Transforming socio-economic challenges into opportunities through entrepreneurship”. The conference will be held at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) and almost a thousand delegates are expected to attend from over seventy countries.
Key activities of the Conference include the Official Opening Ceremony, Community Empowerment Project, Business and Leadership Trainings, Debate and Public Speaking Competitions, JCI Awards Ceremony, Trade Shows and Social events.
The Conference Organizing Committee (COC) is partnering the following government agencies: Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Trade and Industries, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Arts, National Youth Authority, Ghana Tourist Authority, Ghana Investment Promotion Centre and the Greater Accra Regional Co-ordinating Council.
