Ethiopian Airlines and South African Airways Enhance Cooperation

Ethiopian Airlines and South African Airways have further enhanced their cooperation by extending the code share partnership agreement. The new agreement enables the two carriers to extend their code share flight to regional points and domestic sectors.

Ethiopian Airlines will start to code share on South African Airways’ regional flights to Windhoek and Gaborone and to domestic routes between Johannesburg and Cape Town as well as Durban and Port Elizabeth as of 14 September, 2010.

South African Airways will continue to code share on Ethiopian Airlines’ daily flights from Johannesburg to Addis Ababa and to additional regional points in the Middle East (Bahrain and Kuwait) and West Africa (Douala, Bamako and Kigali)

“This enhanced code-share agreement with South African Airlines will provide wider choices of destinations for Ethiopian Airlines’ travelers to various destinations in Southern Africa.” says Mr. Tadesse Adane, Ethiopian A/Vice President Commercial. “We are indeed pleased to partner with South African Airways to further develop the regional business.”

“Adding more points to our code share with Ethiopian Airlines, we shall provide our customers with further access to key destinations in the Middle East and key markets in our continent.”, says Jason Krause, SAA Head of Business Development. “We are looking forward to working closely with Ethiopian Airlines as our partnership will improve the connections between our respective networks.” he added.

Ethiopian Airlines operates daily direct services between Addis Ababa and Johannesburg with a Boeing 767 and 757 aircraft offering 24 business and 211 economy class and 16 business and 144 economy class seats respectively.
