Codementor Kicks Off Partnership To Mentor Andela Developers Across Africa

Codementor, a marketplace for on-demand one-to-one programming help and long-term mentorship from expert software developers, has announced a partnership with Andela, a company that identifies high-potential software developers in Africa, shapes them into world-class developers, and pairs them with companies as full-time, distributed team members.

Upon graduating the first phase of Andela's four-year Technical Leadership Program, entry-level developers will be paired with a seasoned Codementor programmer who will offer ongoing, on-the job mentorship as they start their careers.

Throughout the initial three months of a client engagement, Andela developers are supported by Codementors, who provide daily technical advice and mentorship. Building on Andela's internal support system with an additional mentor network, Codementors enable Andela developers to make an immediate contribution without slowing down the client's more senior developers.

The Codementor community features close to 4,000 vetted experts, including authors, popular open source contributors, professors, and engineers at top tech companies. On demand help and live mentorship via screen sharing, video, and text chat helps companies save time and jump the curve on development needs to get the most value out of existing teams.

"Our partnership with Andela is a natural fit. Our community is full of experienced developers who are committed to helping bright minds hone their skills," said Weiting Liu, Codementor Founder and CEO. "This help-on-demand approach, in conjunction with traditional career mentorship, will help prepare these programmers for both immediate project success, and long-term career success."

Launched in 2014, Andela is developing high-quality technology talent across the African continent that will power the growth of current and future tech-enabled businesses around the world.

"Regardless of background or skill set, access to a network of mentors is essential for anyone to get to the top of their game," said Ian Carnevale, Andela Co-Founder and Brand Director. "Codementor has a deep pool of senior engineers, whose specialized technical and industry knowledge supports our developers."

In addition to partnerships, Codementor also works directly with enterprise IT teams that need help overcoming certain platform or application development challenges, or flattening the learning curve with new programming tools and languages. This is accomplished through one-to-one on-demand help or by hosting a dedicated coding session. At the same time, Codementor provides access and improves the coding quality of any junior developer or startup team looking for expert guidance to accelerate product development.
