[Cameroon] MTN Foundation reinforces the mobile and digital library of the “Cercle de Lecture et d’Animation Culturelle”

MTN Foundation, first corporate foundation created in Cameroon, this Thursday, 25 February 2016 in Yaounde, handed over a significant stock of equipment to the  Cercle de Lecture et d’Animation Culturelle (CLAC), as support of the “STREET CLAC” project. The ceremony was presided over at the CLAC head office by Professor Ebenezer NJOH MOUELLE, member of the MTN Foundation Board of Trustees. 

“STREET CLAC” is a mobile physical and digital library, which shall ply the streets of Yaounde. This library shall notably head towards the city halls, divisional offices, schools, universities and neighbourhoods to enable the population to acquire knowledge through reading and exposure to digital educative contents. 

The partnership between MTN Foundation and Cercle de Lecture et d’Animation Culturelle (CLAC) to deploy “STREET CLAC” seeks to bring books closer to communities and familiarize them with the digital world in their quest and sharing of knowledge. The donation by MTN Foundation to reinforce this mobile library comprises about a dozen ultra-modern touch-sensitive tablets, power unit of 5.25 KVA, 02 modern laptops, an LED TV set of 55’, a Blu RAY  DVD player and portable VHF amplified speakers.  

Thanks to this equipment, STREET CLAC can fulfil its “digital” missions for the public it shall visit. The power unit shall enable to have uninterrupted electrical energy to the great pleasure of users.    

Education is top priority of the MTN Foundation which has the ambition to contribute towards providing learners with adequate infrastructures for their access to quality education.  In fact, MTN Foundation has installed or contributed to install about a dozen libraries spread over our regions. “By supporting this innovative initiative, MTN Foundation contributes to provide our communities access to knowledge through the book, but also and notably 

provides access to the new digital world”, specified Melvin Akam, Executive Secretary of the MTN Foundation.  Through “STREET CLAC”, MTN Foundation reinforces its contribution to align Cameroonians with the new digital world, world of tomorrow.
