Cameroon launches Professional Training Centers of Excellence with eye on job seekers

Cameroon has opened two centers of excellence in two southern towns as it seeks to inculcate professionalism in youth and harness the power of job seekers to come up with solutions that can empower them and end joblessness among the growing young population and a deficit in unemployment.

The Professional Training Centers of Excellence located in the towns of Sangmelima in the South, Limbe in the South-West and douala, in the Littoral region come with ultra-modern equipment.

The results of the cooperation with South Korea, these training establishments, which cost no less than $38 million, will help in “improving the quantitative and qualitative offer in terms of professional training, for the successful integration of youth and jobseekers”, said the Minister of Employment and Professional Development, Zacharie Perevet.

The construction of these centers started in 2013. They will enable the training, in short courses, of hundreds of young Cameroonians in 14 selected professions, among which are wood processing, mechanics, clothing industry, electricity and electronics, IT and multimedia, accommodation services among others.
