RLG to build cellphone, computer components manufacturing centre

Mobile phone and computer assembling firm, RLG Communications is to build a US$100 million technology center in the country by 2014.

Construction work is set to begin next month, and the center will manufacture components of mobile phones and computers.

According to RLG, “this will be the first of its kind in Africa, modeled on other tech centers in the world like the Silicon Valley in the USA.”

Chief Executive of RLG, Roland Agambire told JOYBUSINESS the move has been influenced by the growing demand for its products and its expansion drive to other countries.

The center will also develop software for mobile phones and computers, and also take on orders from other technology giants.

Meanwhile, RLG also plans to expand into six other West Africa countries and three Southern African countries by first half of next year.

The company also plans to establish an assembling plant in Nigeria to also gather phones and computers for that market.

Mr. Agambire told JOYBUSINESS this is part of efforts to be a dominant player in Africa.
