About the Webinar

 

The Corporate Council on Africa will be discussing the African Agriculture in the 21st Centuryas part of their 2017 webinar series with ABP. This webinar will explore how value-addition, improved supply chains, mechanized processes and technology-driven innovation can revolutionize African agriculture. The African agribusiness industry has the potential to address global food security challenges, contribute even more to GDP and employ more Africans, especially youth.

 

The Panelist:

 

Patricia Sheikh, Agribusiness Director | Corporate Council on Africa

 

Patricia R. Sheikh is an agricultural trade and development expert having worked for over three decades in this field. Ms. Sheikh is currently the Agribusiness Director at the Corporate Council on Africa. In this role, she is responsible for promoting trade and investment between the United States and nations of Africa for member companies. Ms. Sheikh’s last position in the Federal Government was the Deputy Administrator, the Office of Capacity Building and Development, Foreign Agricultural Service where she was responsible for the global leadership of USDA’s trade and development objectives and programs. Ms. Sheikh also oversaw all global activities regarding the implementation of food assistance, trade capacity building, and agricultural development programs.

 

Bruce Cameron, Director, Agriculture and Project Finance | Overseas Private Investment Corporation

 

Bruce D. Cameron is a Director, Agriculture and Project Finance at the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC). He is currently leading OPIC’s overall efforts to support projects in the Agriculture and Food sectors in developing countries. He has worked at OPIC for over 20 years. Mr. Cameron previously worked for the Washington Operations Office of McDermott International, a multinational energy services company, on issues ranging from power project development, oil and gas, and defense and energy government contracts. Mr. Cameron also worked as an architectural staff member at the Northern Virginia architectural firm of Temple Washington and Associates. Mr. Cameron holds a MBA as well as a professional Architecture Degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University (Virginia Tech).
